No matter what you are always going to have people run their mouths. You can give them a million dollars and they will complain it wasn't a dollar more. Great video and it is up to the Airman to make the difference. Get away from the toxicity of those that complain everyday
When it comes to the government the very thing that made and makes this country what it is is the ability to complain. Wether it is voicing your opinion against a war you believe to be unjust or thinking a certain policy is inefficient. You may disagree with people but having people to disagree with is the very definition of freedom. Do you think Soviet Russia would allow someone to disagree with any military element? No, in fact you could be killed for complaining about anything government related. A multiple party system means there will be complaining but that is a cornerstone of self governance. Live under a one party system for a little and you will be begging for the right to complain.
That's what we're here for, to state our opinions in a mature atmosphere. I did my four years. Got K9 right after tech school. My USAF experience didn't help me any becoming a city police officer. I told my daughter the same things when she was enlisting. Now she works Mon x Fri, has a full meal period, and gets to leave early on Fridays. Her pay and promotions come just as fast. She doesn't work in outside elements and has it easier to attend college.
I was active duty in Security Police as a Security Specialist 1981 thru 1986. During my time I had several positions to including Aircraft security, Armory ,NCOIC of the police vehicle fleet, worked on the gate section doing base entry control and helped out during the creation of the Air Forces EST ( SWAT) team at Offutt AFB Nebraska. I enjoyed my time on active duty, got to meet some great people along the way and some of them have become life long friends.
I'm in the commercial security industry. And love watching these military videos. Even though I've never been in the military, it's neat to see how other forces operate in comparison to myself. And there are some similarities. I hear everyone saying new SF officers would spend days checking CAC cards at checkpoints. When I got my first security gig, I was tasked with traffic control, the entire day. Which sucked. Now that I've been to college and have a few years of experience, I'm getting better and more high level security positions. Saludos! 👮♂️ God bless you all.
I was SF, CATM and RAVEN and I enjoyed my time in those rolls. I was also a Combat Medic in the Army. All jobs are what you make of them. I took every school offered and volunteered when they were not offered in hopes of getting more training. Like all jobs, there are tedious task like working some lonely ECP to cleaning weapons and some bad and excellent NCOs mixed in but I wouldn't trade my time in SF for any other job. Raven was my favorite roll due to the travel and level three anti terrorism training and SERE which looks good on a resume.
Like most things in life your experience in AF Security Forces can vary greatly depending on a host of factors, most of which are out of your control. Current OPs tempo, what base you are stationed, your leadership, availability of specialized schools and your units willingness to send you. I did four active (86-90) and another 17 with the guard. It led to a federal LE career as a Criminal Investigator with the USMS. Along the way I got to travel all over the world and do some interesting (not gonna lie also a lot of boring) things. At the end of the day when I look back it was a great decision. If you do it go in with a good attitude, seek out every opportunity and try to get the most out of it.
99% sure that’s the Dyess AFB firing range. Worked there for only a year and a half before getting orders but I loved it. That range was state of the art. Besides I’d recognize SSgt Shelby Spalding anywhere. Awesome guy!
Security Specialist 1977-1981. Incirlik Turkey and Minot North Dakota (missle field).. Both known as not great assignments in the Air Force. Won’t complain though after seeing what people have gone through starting with Desert Storm. Anyway, I do regret not giving the Guard or Reserves a shot after active duty.. Still, I’m proud I served..
I re enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard at age 52. After some delays I went through Security Forces Tech School at age 54. It was a lot of fun and I was as good and in better shape than the young ones. It's not that hard.
SSgt Porche is an amazing. Lucky to have him as cadre at camp bullis. If you’re going to do this career field be prepared for the standing around all day during training. Good luck everyone!
3 years later he was my cadre as well, he got out now as a TSgt because of the covid vaccine was team 4 graduated August 9th 2021 Security Forces Tech School
"At any moment, anything can happen". I walked around fences with a K9 for four years. Nothing once ever happen. It was painfully boring, and Security Guard Forces didn't help me becoming a city police officer. I'm proud of my USAF service, but we often worked 12-hour tours for the same pay as people working 8. The 24/7 schedule didn't help attending college classes, or to use the gym to prepare for PT tests. We worked every holiday without night differential or holiday pay. Much of the duty is in outside elements. We were "cops" as much as gate guards at a condominium. The USAF is big on volunteering. This helps obtaining good evaluations and promotions. Imagine volunteering at a church after working a midnight, while knowing you have to return to work that same evening for another midnight tour. The Asvab score ties with becoming a cook. It's also where they dump people who flunk other tech schools. Working a gate and checking the same ID cards while thinking you're a cop, is often the worst job in the Air Force.
Most respectfully, Security Guard Forces is where guys who flunk specialty-tech schools get dumped. Where guards think they're cops. My S/F captain was a pilot washout. I'm sure you've completed gate guard duties doing the same work of security as my condo for minimum wage. @@zulew2555
I was a K9 handler still in my teens. I walked the perimeter of fences in artic-sold weather thinking I was a cop. This never helped me once become a city police officer. OSI or CID might, not air force security. Sometimes you get to write fellow airmen and their wives' cheesy tickets. Then you want to be accepted as real. Guarding parked aircraft, missiles which have never moved, checking ID cards at gates, and watching ammo bunkers is not police work. Nobody ever has applied for a search or arrest warrant, cooperated with the DA in a Grand Jury investigation, monitored a wiretap, or participated in programs like Managing Criminal Investigations.@@zulew2555
Just so you are aware!!! I just retired as a civilian police officer 25 years!! Security Forces prepared me for the civilian world!!! It showed me just how undisciplined some departments are and some officers!!! I was clearly head and shoulders above shoulders above my counterparts and I never cheated the job!!! I could elaborate more about the what I saw and experienced but your comments say it all!!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Who are you trying to impress, or are you fibbing? Secuity never helped me once become a city police officer or grow within my agency. Most of us in S/F guarded parked aircraft or missiles. That's not police work. Were you a real cop, or US Mint Police, Federal Reserve PD, hospital cop, DoD? VA cops aren't even armed off-duty. @@zulew2555
Former USAF Gate Guard, 87-91. I got sooooo many digits and dates from pretty women entering the base ;-) My fondest memories was working town patrol, Angeles City, Clark AB, Philippines.
Your drive to serve has to outweigh desired comfort levels! I love this field, but there are responses and procedures that wouldn't naturally be desired. Ex: working 12 hr shift, getting off work, only to be recalled due to off-base jet crash (overseas). It sucked, but the purpose far outweighed the suck. For folks that whine about the career field, like what you expect to do, only work M-F with weekend and holidays off? Like if you got kicked out for drugs/alcohol abuse or because you were crappy, like why are you trying cut the career field down. Regarding leadership, in and out the military, there are awful and awesome leaders. If your passion is to serve and learn and be in the Security Forces, this gives good perspective. If you want to do drugs, be lazy, hate working with a team, and be super cynical, then it's not for you 🤷🏾♂️
I would stay clear from SF. They get it rough compared to most other jobs. Long hours, standing at a gate checking ID's all day. In any weather too. Get a job thats transferable to the outside world.
@@jacobbarnes1453 see there’s something about hearing how much it sucks that sounds good to me, like yeah it’ll be more demanding compared to most other jobs but I feel like that level of difficulty will significantly increase that feeling of accomplishment as well. Idk how to explain it
@@_TheEnclave_No not at all. It may sound cool, being a "defender" trust me its boring as hell, I've seen so many SF people hate their job, and they had wished they had chosen something else. Walking around a gated fence in all weathers is boring and no fun at all. And dont forget, you have to commit a minimum of 4 years, so if you dont like it a few months in, imagine having to stay another 4 years. That will make your life miserable. If you score well on the ASVAB, go for a job that has a high score. Get a job that recquires you to use your brain, solving probelsm etc. what a waste of talent and a brain it would be to score high, then end up standing at a gate all day. Be smart.
Well...SF is an important job, as other jobs in the United States Air Force! You are protecting billions of dollars of assets, as well as ensuring the security and protection of Air Force Airmen and DOD civilians!! I have a lot of respect for Air Force security forces personnel!!

Don’t do it . I’ve been in 5 years and still doing gates. Do yourself a favor and do your Research on other jobs. Some of you are going to do it anyways and regret it... if you do, only do a 4 year enlistments instead of 6... save yourself two years. Trust me.
Edward not necessarily. You constantly think to yourself during the enlistment “what the hell am I doing here” “what is my purpose right now” “ I should’ve done a 4 year enlistment “ “oh great, they are taking more of my time off” “look at these holidays I don’t get off” etc..(trust me, the list goes on) When you are in the summer, you are sweating and feeling nasty all the time. when it’s winter, you are so cold that you may get frostbite. You can work long days, 8 to 14 hours of just being there while your brain numbs with the lack of activity/productivity , no lunch break. Even though you have done absolutely nothing, you are exhausted.
Edward you can see combat, but it’s rare. I mean you could do Guard or reserve where would work 24 out of 360 days of the year. It’s not “real security forces” in MY opinion. Because you don’t do the same job, reservist go to their one time weekend every month and just do “training” on a computer. The upside to them is that they are what military folks call “civilians” (non military) majority of the year to do whatever you want. Listen dude, if you do it just do 4 years to test the waters, if you like it, then re-enlist. If you absolutely loath it with a passion (like I do) then you will be happy that all you did is 4 years and take that GI BILL that you EARN and run with it after you get out.
In all seriousness I did SF for 16 years, and cross trained. Just remember you'll get no respect from other branches because there's a reason it's called SF and not military police. TRUST ME! if you really want to be a cop in the military don't go Air Force. If your looking to be a gun toting barrel chested freedom fighter do something that will give you pride down the road. Loved the people I served with but wish I wouldn't have stuck it out thinking it gets better and cross trained or went to a different branch sooner to something more high speed and rewarding
8 year AF security forces SSgt here. And Afghanistan and Iraq. TJ Lobraico KIA Bagram AF, 2013, just as an example. He was spotting for k9 when they took contact. 100% security forces runs convoys! My last deployment we did FOB security for ODAs as well.

By Federal Law you must be at least age 17 with parental consent and at least a junior to have an appointment or to join the Air Force. However, you may speak to recruiters when they come to your high school. While you are still too young to enlist into the Air Force, it is never too early to start preparing. There are a few things you can do now to prepare for once you reach the required age. First study hard and graduate from high school. Get the best grades you can in all subjects especially English, Math and Science. This will help you improve your score on the ASVAB test which is required for enlistment. Say no to drugs and get an early start on physical conditioning are important steps in the right direction. And stay out of trouble. Law violations can delay and in some cases will disqualify you from joining the Air Force and taking advantage of the opportunities available. Starting early and being prepared are your best shot. lets understand the Air Force is not the Marines or Army , those aircraft need technicians and the Air Force romp the skies and they do missions that others services can't do. The Air Force is the 911 for services . So quiet comparing apples to oranges. Yes they have desk jobs (they use drones long range) so you better be good at a joy stick and believe it or not I got pictures of other services in Baghdad infantry playing video games so what , those games help you fly a drone and get rid of bad guys while you still in the US.. The Air Force was never meant to be an infantry group. But they learn in Vietnam (the Air Force had used a Korean mentality that the bases in Vietnam would not be attacked, guess what review that in Vietnam the Air Force used the Security Police as their light infantry. The first group was poorly trained then after some bases had sapper attacks and planes destroyed on the ground they realized they had to come up with a security system to safe guard the air base. In Nam at first Army and Marines guarded then both those services were put on the offensive and the South Vietnamese guarded the air base but that went wrong and so the role of the Air Police later Security Police role changed and started using weapons m-60 ,M-79 , doing op's sweeps in near by villages near base, convoy duty and had to deal with attacks 122 mm rockets, mortars and small groups of Viet Cong sappers the Security Police were learning as they were going into more and more into the war. Then Tet 1968 changed everything and State side the Air Force had a program called Safeside were Security Policeman now were being trained as infantry and use of all weapons of the time , read the book Battle of Saigon or Yankee Air Pirates , the Security Police defended the air bases were no air base was over run, remember only Security Police had m-16 and weapons the other had desk jobs and technicians so they could bomb North Vietnam Cambodia etc, so what happen next Security Police are now Security Forces and trained to fight and defend the assets of the Air Force and personnel. PJ, Forward Air Controllers and Security Forces are trained for combat the others are trained to keep aircraft flying I seen videos on Security Forces and on Net Flex you stand a Skycop now has equipment and vehicles and next to a Army or Marine looks the same the missions are different the Army and Marines go hunting for bad guys Security Forces have to wait for the bad guys to come to them. Down time is the hardest thing about being a Skycop (Security Forces nickname). You can compare Navy and the Air Force cause ones water the other one is the air. Marines and Army compare yes but do not compare Air Force to Marines or Army. I was a Skycop in Nam during the Tet 1968 sad to say we learned as we went along , on the job training not good in a war zone. Skycops guarded B-52 's with nukes weapons all over the world and underground in some States and a Skycop is not a hunter he is a defender. Know the mission of the services you want to join. Working Security is no fun boring till the shit hits the fan , As you can tell don't compare Army and Marines to Air Force or Navy.

Steps to the Enlistment • Contact your local recruiter. Recruiter will ask you qualification and eligibility questions. Potentially take a practice test in the office. Depending on how well you do will determine if you get scheduled for the real ASVAB. • Recruiter schedules you for the ASVAB at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) or MET Site. Your recruiter will go over your scores when you return to the recruiting office. If your recruiter tells you that you passed, then he or she will schedule you for the MEPS Exam • At the MEPS your exam will consist of bloodwork, drug testing, medical questioning about all your medical history and a full medical exam. You will be asked about any law violations, arrests, convictions, charges, ANY thing involved a law enforcement officer. You will be fingerprinted, and your prints and information will be run by a federal background investigator. You will then discuss your career selections with an Air Force Liaison based on your ASVAB scores, medical exam, and the X-Factor test results (test is like a dead lift). • You will list your careers (at least 8-10 or more depending on the recruiter) down and the Air Force Liaison will input your choices on your record. You will be asked if you want to do a 4- or 6-year enlistment. You will then be sworn in with the Oath of Enlistment and enter the Delayed Entry Program at MEPS. After this you will go back to your recruiter’s office. • You will wait for your recruiter to contact you when he or she gets notified that you have been booked a career based on one of the choses you listed at MEPS. This may take a few days, weeks or months (it varies). Your recruiter will call you in to the office to sign your contract and discuss your career field and date that you leave to Basic Training The average time to basic is approximately 3-9 months after you DEP in Don Air Force and Space Force Recruiting Service

Couple that with the other great idea and our base did not even make it to 100%. What ? You say. True story.
Nice3
“Commercial Security” Alright bud we get it you should’ve joined the military but now you make it up by being a mall cop.
Meeting Sgt Porche was a great experience that I came across while at Tech School. Great Sgt hands down.
99% sure that’s the Dyess AFB firing range. Worked there for only a year and a half before getting orders but I loved it. That range was state of the art.

Then you did your job!!! With that attitude I’m glad nothing did happen!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡

Who are you trying to impress, or are you fibbing? Secuity never helped me once become a city police officer or grow within my agency. Most of us in S/F guarded parked aircraft or missiles. If you want to do drugs, be lazy, hate working with a team, and be super cynical, then it's not for you 🤷🏾♂️
How about a career field with skills which transfer to a job after the military. S/F can be gate guards at a condo development.
I’m gonna be joining the Air Force after college, I specifically wanna do SF.
SF is definitely a fun job but also demanding job as well, been in 3 years doing Security forces it’s been a good time
I would stay clear from SF. They get it rough compared to most other jobs. Long hours, standing at a gate checking ID's all day. In any weather too. Get a job thats transferable to the outside world.

Denise Raygoza is it cause it’s boring staying in place?
Edward not necessarily. You constantly think to yourself during the enlistment “what the hell am I doing here” “what is my purpose right now” “ I should’ve done a 4 year enlistment “ “oh great, they are taking more of my time off” “look at these holidays I don’t get off” etc..(trust me, the list goes on)
When you are in the summer, you are sweating and feeling nasty all the time. when it’s winter, you are so cold that you may get frostbite.
You can work long days, 8 to 14 hours of just being there while your brain numbs with the lack of activity/productivity , no lunch break. Even though you have done absolutely nothing, you are exhausted.
Denise Raygoza Another question do you see combat
Denise Raygoza or can you do this job as a reserve
What’s the song in the background?

Stay in contact with your Guidance Counselor and maybe we will see you in a few years.
You may research more information about the Air Force on our site of www.airforce.com to include benefits like education, careers, training, lifestyle, requirements, etc.
There is also the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) portion that answers a lot of the most common questions asked: www.airforce.com/frequently-asked-questions/
You may also log on to Airforce.com to chat with a live advisor for assistance or call us to answer questions.
If qualified you can join at age 17 with parental consent during your junior/senior year in high school as part of The Air Force Softbook Program and enter the Delayed Entry Program (DEP), but you will not go to Basic Military Training (BMT) until AFTER you graduate high school.

U.S. Air Force and Space Force Recruiting
@@USAirForceRecruiting I was wondering, Does the Space Force also have a Security Forces Unit?
You're 18 now,
Still going?
lets understand the Air Force is not the Marines or Army , those aircraft need technicians and the Air Force romp the skies and they do missions that others services can't do.

Steps to the Enlistment
• Contact your local recruiter. Recruiter will ask you qualification and eligibility questions. Potentially take a practice test in the office. Depending on how well you do will determine if you get scheduled for the real ASVAB.
• Recruiter schedules you for the ASVAB at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) or
MET Site. Your recruiter will go over your scores when you return to the recruiting office. If your recruiter tells you that you passed, then he or she will schedule you for the MEPS Exam
• At the MEPS your exam will consist of bloodwork, drug testing, medical questioning about all your medical history and a full medical exam.
Your recruiter will call you in to the office to sign your contract and discuss your career field and date that you leave to Basic Training The average time to basic is approximately 3-9 months after you DEP in

They are always open for people (typically) plus it’s one of those jobs to easily be place even with ok asvab scores. If it has a bonus they’ll have openings for days.
TrizerFlame Thanks! It seems like I have a pretty good chance of getting it then
I want to do this ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What is your highest level of education, age, citizenship status and zip code?

What's the possibility of going raven?
Depends on the base you're stationed at. What your pt scores show. How much money your squadron has. Guam is a great place to get the opportunity. There are other factors besides what is listed above. If you're a POS your name will never be looked at.
Hallo airforce I am Joseph from Kenya am 36 next year I will be 37years March can I be taken to join you airforce and to be trained
@josephokumu1279, You must live in the United States or an area that has an Air Force recruiter. Enlistment into the U.S. Air Force by citizens of countries other than the United States is limited to those foreign nationals who are legally residing in the United States and possess a U.S. Citizenship or non US citizens must have an Immigration Services (U.S.C.I.S) Registration Card (INS Form I-551 -- Commonly known as a "Green Card". The green card must be a 10 year green card. Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 42 years old, must speak, read and write English fluently to apply to join the Air Force. The Air Force does not bring applicants to the United States to join. You must get to the United States legally on your own and complete all immigration processing to obtain your Green Card on your own. The Air Force does not help.

Ok sir noted
But I always need this job so much
I’m Dutch and veteran, could I join the US Airforce? I’m 36 of age.
You must live in the United States or an area that has an AF recruiter. You must also possess a 10 Green Card with over 2 year remaining prior to the expiration date to join if you are not a US citizen. Applicants must be between 17 and 39; meet the mental, moral, and physical standards for enlistment; and must speak, read and write English fluently.
The Air Force does not bring applicants to the US to join unless there is an AF recruiting office or Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) to process through. You must complete all immigration processing and get to the United States legally on your own. The AF does not help.

Security forces or SERE specialist. Hmmm
What are you looking for in a job? How busy or intense do you want your job to be? What is your ideal idea of a job?
Well I'm a carpenter so I'm busy 8-12 hours a day. My dream job is law enforcement in park service/SAR
@@Matt18272 that's really cool! Personally if I were you I'd try to be a SERE specialist and have security forces as a fall back but it all depends on your qualifications and such. Talk to a recruiter, they should be able to help you!
@@nikemedina6340 oh yah, that is my plan. Its perfect set up to my dream job. Never give up on dreams!
@Matt H8833 try and be a sere specialist man. I am aircrew in the AF I am at sere right now and the specialist love their jobs. They say the training is intense but worth it, especially if you love the outdoors
i want to do this
Zadie, Your first step is to contact a recruiter. What is your age, citizenship status, highest level of education completed, and zip code?

My dream is to be within of the Air Forces ✊✊✊✊ I Want to be there
I leave April 16th for basic training. My job is maintenance on Bombers/Refuelers. If I can do it, you can do it. Stay focused, workout 6 days a week, get a good asvab score and stay away from drugs and alcohol and the Air Force will take you with open arms.
Give up on your dreams, go join the US Army infantry and actually make a change in the world.
Tyler, what ever branch of service you may a part of...Thank you! Trust me we are making a difference in the world here in the United States Air Force!

Just go battlefield airmen
i’ve been told they get bullied a lot at bases. i hope this isn’t true when i go.
They write fellow airmen and their family cheesy tickets. Then they wonder why they're hated.
Eyes on
I’d rather die than do this
MrGhost well that’s bold 🤣
Why not die doing it
I want to become a Security force.
Me too
What you really want to do is check IDs
That’s the position everyone laughs at. Checking IDs and stopping ppl who go a mile over the speed limit because there’s nothing else to do. Do something you’ll be respected for if your going into the military.
Do something Cyber related so when you get out you can get a good paying job and support yourself... Always think about your future. My afsc is 3d0x2 cyber ops.. basically a systems administrator.. You can do the research on how much they make and other related fields
Emilio Gordillo Do what you want to do man, serve your country the way you want, pick a job you’re passionate about.
0:08 no you’re not.
Who else ships April the 28th for security forces?
Update?
"Jack of all trades"?? Dont get confused with PJs CAC checker!
Ya know it's a scam when they say it's a cross between light infantry and MPs lmao
wdym
I need you to come get me out of here .
Found out what I’m going to do
People who work at a non-combat mission base have no idea how much BS used to come the HHQ (major air command). Thank God for General McPeek. He changed that for the better. I remember in the mid to late 80s, we were at 80% manning until some person ay HQ came up with the brilliant idea to dedicate airmen still in basic training against our base to improve our manning . The next great idea was to re-evaluate out manning to take us from being 80% manning to 100% manning with a stroke of the pen. Couple that with the other great idea and our base did not even make it to 100%. What ? You say. True story. They also wanted out unit to turn in our 50 cal. machine guns because of a new concept called "Light Flight". Few M-60s and no 50 cal machine guns. Talk about stupid! All in the past but I was glad to leave. Worst base including one other (Osan in the early 70s), I was ever at. I remember going into the orderly room and everyone was busy answering IG complaints. Complaints for what? They should have been in the Army. Nothing but a bunch of cry babies. Some ranking guy put them up to it. Glad to leave.
DEFENDERS!!!!
.....
PROTECT THIS HOUSE HUAAA!!!
Most likely will get sent overseas? Wife prefers we stay in the states...
if you want to stay in the US i recommend going ANG or USAFR
You should reconsider joining. The military is very difficult for marriages. It's not a work-from-home job.
They gotta get rid of those corny berets.
I got 96 on the practice asvab and want to do this
Legit Doctor damn
Are you an actual doctor?
You should get it no problem
Congrats!
Thank God I’m leaving Malmstrom
Malmstrom suck lol
